Celebrating 15 years of Goop, Gwyneth Paltrow recently spoke with The New York Times to dive deep and dispel myths, including that bone broth isn’t all she subsists on. In between discussing how yes, she actually does run Goop, and talking courtroom fashion choices, she touches on her ex-fiance’s latest venture.
While Paltrow and Brad Pitt never got around to tying the knot in the mid 90s, the pair have retained a close friendship throughout the years. That includes being one of the first to try the products in Pitt’s skin-care line, Le Domaine. The vegan, sustainable brand grounds itself in naturally-sourced ingredients from Provence, and promises that despite Pitt’s involvement, they’re “not another celebrity beauty brand.”
As for Paltrow’s opinion, Le Domaine gets her seal of approval.
“It’s good,” she says. “Yeah, it’s really beautiful.”
The line sports a soft genderless fragrance by a perfumer in Grasse, France with delicate orange blossom and woody cedar notes, housed in elegant black glass. Sporting a serum, anti-aging daily fluid cream, a gentle facial cleanser and an antioxidant cream, Le Domaine captures the essentials for preventative aging and anti-aging skin care.
And Paltrow was apparently a source of inspiration for Pitt.
Speaking last year to British Vogue, he explained that Paltrow was the first person to get him to invest in his own skin. “She was probably the first one who got me to even wash my face twice a day … maybe,” Pitt says.
For her part, Goop is now an empire of books, jewelry, clothing and of course skin care. She’s sold everything from intimate oil to a candle that smells like her vagina, as Paltrow admits she’s one for experimentation.
“If history has shown me anything, it’s that I’m always looking back, going, ‘Wow, that was an interesting thing to experiment with,’” Paltrow says.
